We partner with builders, contractors, homeowners, and entrepreneurs to create the best code compliance solutions for our community\'s longevity and growth.\ \ Role Statement for Mechanical Inspector Senior: Under general supervision, this classification will act as a senior worker, participate in the various work of the inspection staff, and aid in the coordination of the City of Nampa building inspection program. The worker processes mechanical inspection requests, resolves contractor complaints, performs complex inspections, and performs other duties as assigned. Performs mechanical plan review for up to 50% of the scheduled time.\ \ The principal function of an employee in this class is to act as a lead worker while working alongside the building inspectors and participate in the various work of the inspection team in all aspects of the inspection operation to ensure compliance with all the established policies and procedures and Federal and State rules and regulations. Performs various general, skilled, and specialized tasks and acts as a mentor to the inspection team. This classification of Building Inspector Lead will perform duties as assigned, identify and resolve field problems, and make recommendations to the Building Inspector Supervisor. Must have demonstrated skills in human relations and dispute resolution and a willingness to apply independent judgment and decision-making to resolve non-routine issues that may arise. Informs and assists citizens, developers, and business people with problems related to the City\'s building code requirements, building inspections, and other requirements. Contributes to the development and implementation of policies, standards, and guidelines. The nature of the work performed requires that an employee in this class establish and maintain effective working relationships with assigned supervisors, other city employees, and the public. The principal duties of this class are performed in both office and field settings.

Key Job Accountabilities:\ Primary inspection duties include residential and commercial mechanical inspections for permitted work.\ Performs inspections for non-permitted work, vacant buildings, and dangerous building conditions.\ Performs mechanical plan review for up to 50% of scheduled time.\ Provide direction for mechanical inspectors when the Building Inspector Supervisor is unavailable.\ Assists in coordinating inspection assignments of the inspection team as necessary.\ Assists the Building Inspector Supervisor and inspection team in resolving field correction issues.\ Provides an overall view of daily and in-progress inspections and field corrections to the supervisor.\ Provides effective professional liaison between the Department and other City Departments, representatives from public agencies, area businesses, and the public.\ Compose and prepare correspondence, memos, reports, and other materials related to inspections.\ nterprets and applies departmental or office rules, policies, and regulations in accordance with prescribed procedures and guidelines.\ Responds to citizen complaints related to field inspection activities.\ Develops, analyzes, and defends program documentation, project reports, and legal positions associated with the codes, policies, and ordinances.\ Attends meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions and reviews publications and audio-visual materials to become and remain current on principles, practices, and new developments in assigned work areas.\ Possesses a customer-focused attitude with a results-driven approach to problem-solving.\ Adaptability to work independently on complex assignments and collaboratively with inspection staff.\ Assumes responsibility for other duties as required or assigned.
