Job Title Student Internship (Employer Relations)
General Description
This is an unpaid internship position within the Center for Career and Professional Development at Stephen F. Austin State University. The internship may count towards course credit, or accepted as a stand-alone internship.
Job Duties
- Provides clear and effective customer service and communication with employers, recruiters, and SFA faculty and staff.
- Reviews, assesses, and approves event requests.
- Assists in coordinating and preparing for career events
- Coordinates on campus interviews and information table requests.
- Orders supplies and prepares student and employer giveaways.
- Markets departmental events and services.
- Assists with establishing new employer contacts and strengthening current employer contacts through outreach activities.
- Refers employers interested in site visits, on campus interviews, or internships to supervisor.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Knowledge of computer applications including spreadsheet, database and word processing software, and Handshake.
- Skill in the use of standard office equipment and software.
- Skill in communicating effectively as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
Required Qualifications
Sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student classification required.
Preferred Qualifications
Open to all majors based on student experiences/skills. Human Resources, Hospitality, Mass Communications, Management, or Business Communication and Corporate Education majors preferred.
Physical Demands
Special Conditions for Eligibility
A student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester.
Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
