General Job Description
This is a professional position responsible for administering the university’s student success platform, coordinating the distribution of uniform communications from the platform, and providing project support for student success and retention initiatives. Responsible for analyzing data from student success and academic platforms, providing training to stakeholders and administrators on the use of student success technologies, and advising on the use of data to develop strategic interventions that will yield increases in student retention and graduation rates. Works under general supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Executive Director of Lumberjack Learning Commons.
Essential Job Functions
Serves as the university’s student success platform administrator and subject matter expert.
Compiles, analyzes, and distributes data from student success technologies to stakeholders in order to assess the effectiveness of various interventions and initiatives and aid in the refinement of those efforts.
Provides project management and operational leadership in area of responsibility. Informs the direction of the division with regard to the utilization of student success technology and data analytics.
Leverages predictive analytics to ascertain student risk in order to inform timely and strategic interventions by colleges and advisors.
Supports faculty and staff in the daily use of the platform, providing user support in response to questions or concerns. Solves complex issues, provides updates on issues as they are resolved, and keeps users informed of new features.
Develops and provides training materials and professional development opportunities focused on student success and utilization of advising and student success technologies for academic advisors and other student support professionals.
Coordinates with college advising offices to review degree program modifications and update degree plans and major maps to ensure accuracy.
Recommends, implements, and evaluates strategies to design and improve high-impact programming and services for undergraduate student success, to include progress reports, early alerts, advisement, programming, and degree planning.
Performs curriculum complexity analyses to identify degree completion obstacles or other impediments such as course combinations with negative impacts on student success. Works with college advisors and faculty to streamline curriculum accordingly.
Coordinates functional use of the platform as the primary contact with the vendor. Communicates regularly with the vendor to plan for functional updates, optimize use of available features, answer end-user questions, and adjudicate any technical or data issues.
Advises senior administrators in implementing programs, initiatives, and special projects.
Maintains currency of knowledge and skills through professional development activities and independent research.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Skill in using computer applications including spreadsheet, database with data table manipulation, and word processing software.

Skill in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting complex data from multiple sources.
Skill in effectively summarizing complex data in both oral and written form, including report development.

Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Ability to develop and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

Physical Demands
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree is required.
Required Experience and Training
Three years of related experience is required. Experience as an academic advisor or working in a student success, student support, or student affairs position is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree is preferred.

This position is eligible for participation in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ) retirement plan, subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
