WSP’s Land team in Ireland is seeking an Associate Land Consultant to join our Naas based team.
This is an exciting opportunity based in our Naas office to become part of our multi-disciplinary service line within the WSP Land Team in the delivery of land referencing, land acquisition, land access, formal consents, statutory orders and compensation agreements and landowner management.
Our clients develop major highway, rail, energy and renewable infrastructure and projects all of which impact privately owned land. You will work as part of a team of Land Consultants assisting in the liaison with landowners that may be affected by development, obtaining the appropriate consent, gaining access and where necessary compensating them for the impact caused by the scheme.
As part of our team you will support the delivery of land access and land acquisition projects through the identification of land ownership, consultation with landowners, undertaking property valuation, assessing and negotiating compensation, combining skills in GIS, data management and landowner engagement.
The role will also encompass working with our land negotiation teams across a variety of commercial, residential and agricultural properties.
A little more about your role…
Lead a team of technical specialists to ensure successful delivery of projects on time, within budget and to high standards
Be a trusted advisor to clients (externally and internally) and manage relationships
Advise on Land issues within Ireland and UK, including the relevant statutory processes to acquire land including CPO, Motorway Order, Vesting Order, Development Consent Order (DCO), Hybrid bill, Transport and Works Act Order (TWAO) etc
Secure land rights for high profile, strategic infrastructure projects across Ireland and the UK
Liaise with landowners, auctioneers, land agents, legal representatives, planning authorities, key stakeholders, contractors and clients
Work closely with the Land team and collaborate with engineering, environmental, and planning teams
Lead on quality assurance of deliverables in relation to the identification of land interests and rights, negotiation of access to land for surveys, consents and acquisition of land rights for large scale development projects, as well as land acquisition and planning applications.
Promote Land services and contribute to business development accros the electricity, highway, rail, water, telecoms, gas and renewable energy sectors
Support the sharing of knowledge and lessons across regions and projects
Develop efficient working practices and promote innovation in the team to provide industry leading, best value services to our clients
Ensure that the team has the necessary skills and resources to deliver successful projects and grow the business;
Manage, motivate, mentor and develop staff and contribute to the delivery of the business strategy
Support the writing of bids/tenders to secure opportunities from internal and external clients
Lead delivery of training on technical topics
Ireland and UK travel
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
Degree or equivalent experience in Agriculture, Land and Estate Management or a relevant discipline
Expertise in rural environment, property, communities and agricultural working practices
Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams across a range of sectors and locations across Ireland and the UK
Experience of negotiating commercial terms with landowners and knowledge of the legal process for the acquisition of wayleaves and easement
Demonstrable experience of reducing land risk for clients and advising them on land related matters throughout all stages of a project lifecycles.
Proven track record of the development of Orders and/or acquisition of consents and interests in land, and knowledge of relevant legislation
Ability to communicate effectively with strong influencing and negotiating skills
Motivated and able to work in a team and on own initiative, being able to work under pressure and deliver high quality outputs
Strong landowner and public engagement skills
Good business and IT skills
Excellent adherence to quality assurance and good document management skills
A degree or equivalent experience in Agriculture, Land and Estate Management or similar
Chartership or membership or a Professional body would be advantageous.
A full drivers’ licence is essential.
