Job Description
AECOM is seeking a highly motivated staff geotechnical and/or civil engineer to support our mine tailings storage facility and heavy civil infrastructure design and analysis projects as part of the Mining group in Denver Colorado and Salt Lake City, UT.
Job Summary/ Responsibilities:
Performs specific and moderate portions of broader assignments
Plans, directs and performs specific and/or moderate portions of mid- to large, complex projects under the supervision of an experienced senior engineer.
Plans, implements, performs and oversees geotechnical exploration and laboratory testing programs (30% travel/field time)
Plans, oversees and performs geotechnical evaluations including material characterization, liquefaction, seepage, slope stability, and settlement analyses
Prepares and reviews calculation packages
Assisting with the development of geotechnical reports, drawings and specifications
Preparing and presenting technical presentations of evaluation results to internal and client teams
Review of geotechnical instrumentation and preparation of instrumentation monitoring reports
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS + 4 yrs of relevant experience and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education
EIT Certification
Valid U.S. Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications
MA/MS Civil Engineering with Geotechnical Emphasis
Professional Engineer (PE) License or ability to obtain within 1 year
Proficient in the use of industry software such as GeoStudio, Utexas, Grapher and AutoCAD Civil3D
Field/Construction experience; tailings or dams experience a plus
Familiarity with and preparing design reports, drawings and specifications
Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrate proactive problem-solving skills
Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment
Exhibits initiative, responsibility and flexibility
Resourceful, highly organized, and detail oriented
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
Effective time-management and interpersonal Skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $85,000.00 - $130,000.00.
