Murray State University Middleware Administrator in Murray, Kentucky

Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for implementation, configuration, and maintenance of middleware reporting and/or database technologies and platforms. Ensures seamless integration and communication between different systems. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, troubleshoots issues, and optimizes performance to support efficient data exchange and interoperability.

  • Implementing and configuring middleware and reporting and/or database solutions to support system integration and data exchange.

  • Collaborating with software developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to understand integration requirements and design appropriate middleware solutions.

  • Monitoring and maintaining the middleware infrastructure to ensure availability, reliability, and performance.

  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to middleware systems, interfaces, and connectivity.

  • Conducting regular assessments and audits of middleware systems to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary upgrades or enhancements.

  • Performing capacity planning and scalability analysis to ensure the middleware infrastructure can handle increasing data volumes and system demands.

  • Collaborating with security teams to implement and maintain appropriate security measures and protocols for middleware systems.

  • Providing technical guidance and support to development teams on middleware-related matters.

  • Create and maintain documentation related to middleware configurations, processes, and procedures.

  • Staying up-to-date with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in middleware and integration domains.

  • Participating in the evaluation and selection of middleware tools, technologies, and vendors.

  • Assisting in the planning and execution of integration testing and performance testing activities.

  • Collaborating with project teams to ensure middleware requirements are considered in system design and implementation.

  • Conducting training sessions and workshops to educate users and stakeholders on middleware usage and best practices.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Demonstrable experience as a Windows administrator, Linux Systems administrator, Database administrator and/or Application administrator, may be exchanged for the bachelor’s degree requirements on a year-for-year basis.

Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:

  • One (1) year of experience as a Windows administrator, Linux Systems administrator, Database administrator and/or Application administrator is required.

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

  • Excellent organization, writing, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
