BlackRock Analyst, Transfer Agency Oversight/ Financial Control in Mumbai, India

About this role

Technology and Operations (“Tech Ops”) supports the development of the firm's operating infrastructure to support BlackRock's investment businesses worldwide. Tech Ops establishes and coordinates operational procedures internally and externally with clients, custodians, accounting agents, prime brokers, broker-dealers, and other vendors, as well as strengthen BlackRock's relationships.

Global Fund Distributor Services (“GFDS”) is a unit within Tech Ops – Global Accounting And Product Services (GAAPS). GFDS provides management and oversight of BlackRock Fund Transfer Agents and distribution partners that service and distribute our Fund Ranges globally. We also perform governance and oversight of BlackRock’s Retail Fund Distribution Partners. As we look to expand GFDS footprint in India, we are seeking an Analyst to join our team.

In the main, this role will sit within the Transfer Agency Financial Control function with a focus on reconciliation of our CASS and Collection account positions for the fund ranges looked after by our external vendors. This requires a strong attention to detail, diligent, proactive attitude to break resolution and, ideally, reconciliation experience.

We may require this role to cover other responsibilities within Transfer Agency Oversight as directed from time to time.

Role Responsibility

  • Complete the reconciliation of CASS and collection account bank accounts

  • Investigate and resolve day to day operational queries, issues and incidents in relation to reconciliation of cash accounts

  • Oversight & governance of all Transfer Agency CASS activity including the daily oversight of external and internal client money and corporate reconciliations ensuring that all actions are completed in a timely manner.

  • This includes assisting in the compilation of monthly CMAR return which is presented to the Head of CASS

  • Conduct root cause analysis for operational problem and ensuring appropriate remedial steps are clearly defined and assigned to mitigate risks.

  • Proactively analyse trends in errors and issues to find opportunities for process improvement at either the Provider or BlackRock.

  • Prepare and maintain procedures, processes and controls between BlackRock and its administrators.

  • Participate in periodic reviews and updates to the operating model/service level documentation.

  • Completion of oversight checks on specific activities at the TA to ensure compliance with agreed service levels.

  • Provide constructive input to ongoing due diligence of the Transfer Agents.

  • Assisting management and senior leaders with any ad hoc / project work

  • Engage and maintain relationships with key partners in GAAPS and across the firm to effectively navigate the global organization

  • Provide exceptional client service through quick and complete response to internal/external client queries

  • Assist with developing metrics and reporting for senior management

Experience

  • Minimum 2-5 years of financial services experience and have a good understanding of Financial Markets, preferably within the Asset Management, Reconciliation role or Transfer Agency Oversight environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting (strongly preferred) or Finance.

  • Previous reconciliation / data analysis experience would be encouraged

  • Strongly proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office

  • Understanding of risks and controls within a financial services environment

  • Experience of working with external providers

  • Relationship and/or project management experience would be advantageous

  • Knowledge of SQL and similar database technologies (Aqua Data) as well as an emphasis on automation and visualization tools (Tableau/PowerBI) would be beneficial
