Description

The Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) has one (1) opening for a GIS Analyst II position. This position is a fulltime benefitted position located at our Director’s office in Boise or the Coeur d’Alene staff office.

Minimum filling rate is $28.36. The final salary rate is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Example of Duties:

This classification is the third of four levels in the GIS family. At this level, incumbents are IT professionals supporting the execution of GIS processes and procedures through data creation compilation, analysis and reporting. Incumbents possess solid understanding of how to apply GIS and relational databases to natural resources or similar field's information.

Responsibilities:

· Create, organize, and maintain GIS data for internal, external, and public use.

· Build and maintain GIS layers and databases, including metadata, to ensure data quality and availability.

· Develop and maintain web-based mapping applications to provide a visual display of data to users.

· Designs, compiles, drafts, and reproduces data for the creation of maps that displays results of analyses.

· Analyzes spatial data and prepares necessary reports. Creates map products using GIS software.

· Participate as a team member on GIS projects May train and educate internal and external customers.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:(Typically gained by a combination of course work and/or at least 12 months’ work experience)

Operating, applying, and programming GIS software products in a work environment.

Good Knowledge of:(typically gained by completion of a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a closely related field, or at least 12 months’ work experience and upper division college course work, or certification in field)

· GIS principles; cartographic principles

· Web and Mobile GIS principles

· Conducting GIS analysis

Desired Qualifications:

Some Knowledge of:(Typically gained from college course work and/or at least 12 months’ work experience)

· GIS programming languages commonly used in the development of GIS applications

· Principles of database design and management

· Database structure or management

· Scripting

· Web development

· Mobile GIS

Overtime/Vacation Accrual FLSA:

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) code for this position is Covered (C) Based on the FLSA code for this position, compensatory time will accrue at a rate of 1.5 hours for each 1 hour of overtime worked. Compensatory time off may be provided in lieu of overtime cash compensation. Vacation accrual is based on the FLSA code and accrual rates can be found at: https://dhr.idaho.gov/wp-content/uploads/Section2Vacation-1.pdf (Exception: Employees engaged in Fire Suppression activities for which overtime hours are earned will be paid at the rate of 1.5 times the hourly rate for each one hour of overtime worked.
