Premera’s Corporate Finance department ensures the Company’s financial information and reporting is accurate and complete and provides technical consultation for multi-company accounting functions for Premera Blue Cross and its subsidiaries, a $3 billion group of companies.

In this role as an Accountant III your primary goal is to determine appropriate accounting for the diverse business transactions for the operations of the Premera group of companies. This work will leverage your accounting knowledge, strong analytical capabilities to solve problems and strong technology skills to continuously improve accuracy, workload capacity, and process efficiency. This role is hybrid. Hybrid employees will work with their managers to align on when in-person attendance is necessary to optimize collaboration, with advance notice.

What you will do:

  • Develop, analyze, and interpret complex accounting data.

  • Responsible for monthly close processes including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses.

  • Research and analyze complex business transactions.

  • Analyze financial information, accounting processes and issues, prepare conclusions and recommendations, and implement solutions.

  • Represent Finance on cross-departmental projects.

  • Collaborate with external auditors on annual Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) audit to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Work with and provide direction to various departments throughout the company on accounting related matters.

  • Improve processes and/or gain efficiencies.

  • Coach and mentor members of the team.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or (4) years' experience in accounting or related field (Required) .

  • Five (5) years of relevant experience (Required) .

  • Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.

  • Experience working with Workday or a similar application preferred.

  • Health insurance experience preferred.

  • Advanced data management skills, Excel, SQL, and SharePoint.

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.

National Salary Range:

$67,800.00 - $108,500.00

National Plus Salary Range:

$72,700.00 - $123,600.00

*National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska .
