Job Title: Full Charge Bookkeeper (Contract)

Job Description:

Robert Half is seeking an experienced and meticulous Full Charge Bookkeeper for a contract opportunity at a growing organization. The ideal candidate will have broad accounting expertise, the ability to manage the full spectrum of bookkeeping tasks, and a hands-on approach to financial management. This role is perfect for a professional who is well-versed in the intricacies of small to medium-sized business accounting processes, including A/P, A/R, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end close procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage full-cycle bookkeeping, including accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), payroll, and bank reconciliations.

  • Oversee general ledger activities and ensure accurate journal entries.

  • Process month-end and year-end closing tasks, including account reconciliations and adjustments.

  • Prepare financial statements and reports, ensuring they align with company policies and GAAP standards.

  • Reconcile credit card statements, manage expense reports, and monitor cash flow.

  • Handle payroll processing and related tax filings, including deductions and compliance with federal/state regulations.

  • Maintain accurate records of fixed assets and depreciation schedules.

  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts to support the company’s financial planning.

  • Collaborate with management to resolve accounting discrepancies and improve systems/processes.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Work with external accountants during audits or tax preparation periods as needed.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience as a bookkeeper; full-charge bookkeeping experience is highly desirable.

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred but not required).

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems. Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.) are a plus.

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP, payroll practices, and tax regulations.

  • Soft Skills: Highly organized and detail-oriented with exceptional problem-solving skills.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively collaborate across teams.
