PACCAR Inc. Principal Investigator-Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle in Mount Vernon, Washington

Requisition Summary This key position is located within the Advanced Technology organization at the PACCAR Technical Center. The Advanced Technology team is leading R&D projects in strategic technology domains including clean Diesel powertrains, Battery Electric Vehicles, Fuel-Cell Electric Vehicles, Charging Infrastructure, Autonomy and V2X Connectivity. Most of the team's development activities are incorporated into Department of Energy funded R&D programs. The principal investigator Fuel-Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) development will lead the development of the next generation FCEV class-8 vehicles together with Kenworth as part of the DOE funded Pacific North-West Hydrogen Hub program: . PACCAR is currently in the negotiation and contracting phase, for funding, deliverables, and overall program timing. Contract signing is expected to occur in Q2 2024. After contracting the Principal Investigator will continue to manage the technical progress reporting, ensure compliancy, and will be the first point of contact for all communication between the DOE and PACCAR The goal of the FCEV development program is the definition of the production intend next generation FCEV leveraging the earlier demonstration programs using the Toyota Fuel Cell Powertrain kit. Key performance goals are summarized as; covering heavy-duty long-haul application, reduce cost of ownership, and increase overall technology maturity. Get started! Job Functions / Responsibilities Support and successfully complete program contracting work. Lead PACCAR program activities and milestones within the DOE funded pacific northwest hydrogen hub. Report (written and verbal) on program progress and status to internal stakeholders, the pacific northwest hydrogen hub association, and the department of energy. Ensure program compliancy together with PACCAR accounting, purchasing, and engineering teams. Work with cross-divisional teams to manage the evaluation of new technology readiness levels (TRL) processes. Keep abreast of emerging technologies, tools, and methods related to hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and hydrogen economy and technologies in general. Qualifications 5 years or more experience in automotive research, preferably in commercial vehicles with focus on Zero-emission-Vehicles and/or powertrain systems. Be an excellent team player Good understanding of Hydrogen economy development and governmental activities. Previously demonstrated strong technical knowledge, analysis, and communication skills.
