Powertrain Transmission Validation Engineer Requisition Summary The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for testing PACCAR offered transmissions in future and existing vehicle platforms. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, self-motivated and well organized. An ideal candidate is enthusiastic about automotive engineering and has familiarity with transmissions and vehicle testing. Work will be conducted in collaboration with Kenworth and Peterbilt truck divisions. The candidate will be responsible for evaluating the performance of a wide variety of transmissions on leading edge powertrains with hardware and software intended to be used in production. Division Information The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winchdivisions of PACCAR Inc. through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington. Job Functions / Responsibilities Perform truck testing with evolving PACCAR offered transmissions coupled with a variety of vehicle models and engines. Follow established testing standards, as well as create unique test scenarios based on identified potential failure modes. Collect data over CAN and physical instrumentation during tests. Summarize data to support testing results and communicate findings to the organization. Become a subject matter expert for transmission testing, providing insights, test plan development, and tracking of all aspects of assigned testing. Develop test strategies, procedures, and processes for transmission vehicle testing. Manage new project requests and discuss project requirements with requestors. Formulates preliminary project plans, budgets, and schedules. Works directly with suppliers to understand product changes, software revisions and risk of changes to PACCAR and it's customers. Track and report progress of assigned projects. Establishes and maintains cooperative and productive work relations with truck divisions. Specifies instrumentation equipment, vehicles, loading configurations, software versions, and data collection strategies for assigned testing. Writes reports/project summaries as appropriate, incorporating results, conclusions, and recommendations. Develops and maintains a high level of familiarity with PACCAR products and service tools. Off-site testing requires up to 12% travel. Qualifications & Skills Familiar with transmissions and mechanically inclined. 1+ years engineering experience desired. Candidate will be independent, motivated, demonstrate excellent analytical and written communication skills, and exercise sound engineering judgment. Commercial driver's license is a plus. Experience with class 8 vehicles desired. Ability to manage personal workload and willingness, flexibility, and initiative to respond to shiftingtime and project demands. Ability to summarize technical issues and communicate effectively. Powertrain hardware and software testing experience desired. E
