Knox Technical Center Nursing Faculty-KTC in Mount Vernon, Ohio

Knox County Career Center Schools is a public school district located in Mount Vernon, Ohio, that serves preschool students, over 600 high school students in 19 career technical programs at Knox County Career Center, and adult students in 12 career technical programs through Knox Technical Center. Knox Technical Center is looking for: Position Title: Nursing Faculty (Full-time-multiple)

Reports To: Nursing Program Administrator or Associate Administrator

Beginning Date: Immediately

Compensation: Negotiable (FT position does include benefits)

Description: Nursing faculty teach nursing subjects at the postsecondary level to adult learners. Instruction may be delivered in classroom, laboratory and/or clinical settings. Depending on qualifications, nursing faculty may be assigned to teach in the NATCEP/STNA, Practical Nursing, or LPN-RN programs. Assignment may be to the role of Lead Faculty or Teaching Assistant.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience for Nursing Faculty: • Completion of an approved registered nursing education program • Experience for at least two (2) years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse; • Experience teaching for one (1) year preferred • Baccalaureate degree in nursing (Master's degree in nursing preferred); • Current, valid unrestricted licensure as a registered nurse in Ohio.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to: Teaching nursing subjects at the postsecondary level to adult learners. Instruction may be delivered in classroom, laboratory and/or clinical settings. Assignment may be to the role of Lead Faculty, Teaching Assistant, or Guest Lecturer.

  1. Implement teaching strategies relating to nursing of individuals or groups in the class, laboratory and/or clinical setting.
  2. Clarify expectations of teaching assistants or preceptor; the course and clinical objectives and the lab or clinical evaluation tool.
  3. Supervise learner's clinical experience/student practice.
  4. Contribute to the evaluations of the learner's performance/progress in the classroom, clinical and/or lab.
  5. Communicate learner's clinical performance and progress as compared to stated objectives.
  6. Keep records of learner progress.
  7. Communicate learning needs.
  8. Provide for orientation of each learner to the clinical site.
  9. Counsel individual adult learners by identifying strengths and shortcomings, guiding the adult learner on the appropriate use of available resources; coaching to enhance or improve performance.
  10. Serve as liaison between school and clinical agency.
  11. Serve as role model.
  12. Develop teamwork.
  13. Foster professional relationship with learners.
  14. Participate in the development of the educational program.
  15. Maintain professional and technical knowledge and engage in professional development.
  16. Maintain organized, safe and clean work environment.
  17. Maintain timely payroll records.
  18. Complete annual trainings as required.

Specific responsibilities and requirements as outlined by Ohio law and rule [4723-5-10/11, OAC; 3701-18-09, OAC] will vary depending upon program, course, and teaching assignment. Additional Requirements for all nursing faculty: • State of Ohio Adult Education Teaching Permit. • Satisfactory FBI and BCI background check, and reference checking. • Clinical faculty must maintain current BLS for Healthcare certification, documented immunity, and compliance with all clinical requirements as outlined in the Student Handbook.
