West Virginia Employer Retail Salesperson in Moundsville, West Virginia

SKCON New Vrindaban Inc. Is a non-profit religious organization in Marshall County, West Virginia. We substantially boost the local economy by attracting an influx of over 40,000 visitors a year from all over the United States and Canada, with about 12% of guests visiting from overseas. We are a major tourist attraction in West Virginia and work with the Marshall County Tourist Board providing reciprocal advertising for other tourist attractions in the area. Many of our visitors come to see Srila Prabhupadas Palace of Gold, one of the top 3 tourist attractions in Marshall County. Others come as pilgrims to attend our temple programs, seminars, and retreats. We print our own calendar and have 35 unique festivals each year attracting 1000s of guests. On our complex, we have The Palace of Gold, a large temple (worship) room, the Palace Lodge Motel, 12 cabins, a restaurant, a snack bar, a gift shop, a picnic area, and a playground. We provide permanent jobs for over 60 people, and during the spring and summer take on at least an additional 30 temporary full-time staff to help with seasonal needs, gardening, landscaping, tour guides, receptionists, kitchen staff, maids /housekeepers, janitors, and retail staff. To continue to cater to the increasing numbers of guests we now need to employ additional temporary workers from overseas. This statement of temporary need is in support of our need for 12 full-time retail sales staff to work in our Gift Shop from April to October. Every year due to our location in the Appalachian Mountains, the number of guests who visit drops off dramatically in the winter months. We have a very predictable seasonal need that is increasing year on year. Our busiest time is from April to October. To maintain and grow the services we offer to guests we now need to employ additional full-time seasonal temporary workers during these months to assist our full-time permanent staff. With additional staff, we can keep our gift shop open throughout the season. We have two work shifts in our gift shop, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Our Gift shop is located in the Temple foyer. We offer exotic souvenirs and artisanal handicrafts imported from India. We carry a wide variety of traditional Indian clothes, incense, curios, altars, deities, devotional items, and classical books of wisdom. The gift shop is very popular with guests and is very busy between April and October. In 2023 we sold 121,808 individual items with 107,750 items sold between April and October. This is a 23.18% increase over 2022. New Vrindaban is 15 miles from the nearest town. It is always difficult to recruit local workers due to the location. We also find it difficult to recruit workers who are prepared to work in the evenings and weekends. Our available community members are trained in theology and are required to work only in our temple, maintaining our daily worship program, preaching to guests, running seminars and retreats, and distributing our spiritual books. We would now greatly benefit from the addition of full-time temporary seasonal workers from overseas to assist us in providing a service to our guests from April to October. Staff will work in the Temple gift shop and duties and responsibilities include: Greet and welcome visitors. Help visitors to find items they are looking for. Process sales and refunds. Price items for sale. Restock shelves on the shop floor. Create attractive displays. Keep shop floor neat and tidy. Receive and unpack deliveries. Keep storeroom tidy. Assist with inventory.
