Primary Function

:

This position provides the essential transportation needs of the children and parents enrolled in the Child Development Program of this Agency. Duties include driving various size vehicles (car, truck, van, and school style bus), supervision of passengers in the vehicles, and washing/maintenance of vehicles assigned to the Center.

Requirements

Educational Leve

l: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred; and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proficiency Skills

:

Language:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of parents or employees of the agency.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, and volume.

General Skills and Abilities:

Must possess good organizational skills; communication skills; and the ability to develop good working relations with staff and management.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and reach with hands and arms.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25-50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must possess a valid Commercial Drivers license with a PS endorsement, and reliable transportation. May be required to provide own transportation in order to fulfill job responsibilities.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems, and prepare simple written reports and maintain travel logs

Other Skills and Abilities:

Has knowledge of and ability to apply good safety principles in the operation of passenger carrying motor vehicles; has knowledge of good preventative maintenance principles practice; has knowledge of and ability to practice basic first-aid techniques; ability to relate well with young children
