Big Bend Community College Japanese Agricultural Training Program - Spanish Trainer in Moses Lake, Washington
Position Summary
Big Bend Community College (BBCC), a rural college serving vibrant, culturally rich communities in the Columbia Basin of Central Washington invites applications for a Spanish Trainer in the college's Japanese Agricultural Training Program. The Japanese Agricultural Training Program (JATP) is a work/training educational program for Japanese students to come to the USA. The training is an intensive 9 week program with English, Spanish, and agricultural instruction.
Instruction will take place twice a week (two hour sessions) for 8 weeks. Contract salary of $27.50 per hour for an estimated 60 contracted hours for the instructional period.
The JATP Instructional Training Program runs from June 24 - August 16, 2024.
The Japanese Agricultural Training Program was initially conceived as a means of improving Japan's agriculture via the transfer of U.S. technology and farming methods. Today's JATP represents a continuing effort, not only to improve agriculture in Japan, but also to promote greater understanding between Japan and the United States. Academic as well as comprehensive on-the-farm training is used to accomplish this. Additionally, trainee insight into American culture and institutions is developed through participation in host family and community activities.

Essential Job Duties
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
Teach Basic Spanish to Japanese Trainees.
Teach general agricultural vocabulary.
Teach Spanish culture and other assigned topics.
Follow curriculum and lesson plan schedule.
Communicate with trainees and JATP support staff.
Attend extra-curricular activities when available.
