The Role: Xylem is seeking candidates with a Machine Learning / Engineering background to join our team as a Senior AI Edge Engineer. As a member of our Data Science team, the candidate will design, develop and test data-driven applications that leverage our electric metering infrastructure for innovative electric utility applications. Familiarity with embedded systems and circuit theory are highly desirable, as our devices live on the edge and derive insights from electrical measurements. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to succeed in a fast paced, fluid environment while ensuring that project initiatives are met.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Ability to build robust software at cloud scale & embedded scale

  • Drive to research engineering and mathematical principles relevant to the application space

  • Passionate about applications, analytics, storage and distributed systems

  • Strong sense of ownership and customer focus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Attending an accredited University studying toward a Bachelors of Science degree or higher in a conventional field like Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics/Statistics, Data Science or equivalent.

  • STRONG attention to detail.

  • Ability to meet deadlines/schedules.

  • Scripting experience (python, bash, etc), and probability/advanced statistics

  • Experience applying Machine Learning to real world problems through either higher level academic research or real world environment work experience.

  • Experience using Linux and open source technologies

  • Open to learning the cloud (AWS) ecosystem of web services

  • Open to learning the embedded java/micro python ecosystem of tools and processes.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment of data scientists/engineers to meet aggressive goals and high-quality standards.

  • Demonstrated experience working with cross functional teams

SALARY: The estimated salary range for this position is $100,000 to $130,000 plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
