Entry-Level Cell Assay Scientist (urgent need!)

Kelly Scientific is hiring for an URGENT need and we're seeking to fill IMMEDIATELY!! This is a contract-to-hire role with one of our esteemed clients in RTP, NC! If you have a BS or MS with 2 years of lab experience working with cell lines/cell line maintenance & culture. We are looking for YOU!!! Apply today (that means you, new grads)!

We are seeking an entry-level scientist with cell & molecular biology knowledge and cell culture experience to provide laboratory support to research projects with the goal of understanding pharmaceutical mechanism of action (MOA).

The successful candidate will perform experiments involving:

  • Culture of cell lines and primary cells;

  • Performing a variety of assays that may include Q-RT-PCR and other molecular biology techniques, high content imaging, ELISAs, and other fluorometric and luminescent assays;

  • Developing novel assays as needed.

  • In addition to performing laboratory tasks, the successful candidate will design experimental protocols, record, analyze, organize, and present experimental results, will work with other team members to determine courses of action to meet project milestones, and will provide guidance to junior scientists in the laboratory.

Experience and Skills

Required education, experience, and skills:

  • A BS or MS in biology, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, molecular toxicology, or similar disciplines.

  • A minimum of 2 years relevant hands-on experience in a molecular and/or cell biology laboratory (academic or industry).

  • Experience in mammalian cell culture (highly, highly, highly preferred).

  • Strong organizational and experimental documentation skills.

  • A willingness to take on a variety of projects within the company.

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • The ability to work in a team environment, and to guide junior scientists.

Experience with any of the following techniques are preferred, but not required. However, they will help your application chances!

  • Mammalian cell transfection or transduction

  • High-throughput assays for cell health:

  • Viability

  • Cytotoxicity

  • Etc.

  • Molecular biology:

  • PCR

  • q-RT-PCR

  • molecular cloning

  • Microscopy:

  • Immunofluorescent labeling

  • high content imaging

  • digital image analysis

  • ELISAs

  • Western blotting

  • GC/MS
