Atlantic Health System Sr. ADA Specialist in Morristown, New Jersey
Responsible for delivering best in class leave of absence, worker’s compensation and accommodation services by effectively managing assigned case load to provide a compliant and a smooth experience for AHS team members. This includes tracking of leaves cases, in accordance with federal and state regulations, and AHS policies and procedures. Ensures LOA case administration functions within the scope of regulatory statutes, including but not limited to FMLA, USERRA, NJFLA, ADA and other state specific family leave laws relevant to our team member population. Ensures effective and timely communications with team members, managers, appropriate health care providers and agencies to achieve thorough understanding and documentation of individual circumstance, and the development of appropriate plans for team member transition to work/employment resolutions.
Evaluates, researches, and administers employee requests for workplace accommodations. Facilitates and participates in the interactive process to identify and assess options for providing reasonable accommodations and access to eligible team members in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, OSHA and other disability laws
Coordinates, reviews, and partners with internal and external resources to administer, monitor and evaluate compliance with state and federal regulations for any type of leave, however the primary focus lies with leaves that fall under ADA consideration.
Serves as a primary contact to respond to questions from staff and management regarding ADA compliance and accommodation requests.
Maintains current awareness of and proficiency with applicable laws and regulations relative to Leave of Absence Administration.
Partners with team members, medical providers, and field leadership to encourage and facilitate smooth return-to-work transitions for team members. Facilitates regular case review sessions with the Supervisor, LOA Care Team to identify and execute strategies for resolution.
Serves as a subject matter expert for workers’ compensation job protection standards in alignment and partnership with the Supervisor, LOA Care Team, Occupational Medicine Team, and the W/C TPA.
Provides extensive case management and coordinates administrative aspects of the cases and claims
Maintains strict HIPAA compliance for all team member information including PHI.
Acts a liaison with injured workers, Occupational Medicine, departmental staff, medical providers, third party administrator, and Human Resources, when indicated
Consults, coordinates and partners with our third-party administrators, HR, OMS, Safety, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, team members and other departments/systems, as appropriate
Maintains accurate case records within our LOA Administration web-based tools, payroll systems, and company developed trackers. Includes the creation and distribution of compliant written communications and case relevant actions.
Prepares and presents analytics related to case status, including but not limited to, case duration, accommodation facilitation, and overall productivity and cost impacts
May serve as a company representative in unemployment hearings, legal depositions, etc. representative as it relates to matters involving LOA practice and employment decisions
Other duties as assigned
Education/ Experience:
Bachelor's Degree preferred. High School Degree Required.
HR certification (i.e., CCP, PHR, SPHR) preferred.
Proficiency with applicable Federal and state specific statutes, including but not limited to FMLA, NJFLA, NJFLI, LAD, FLSA, ADA, Title VII, ERISA, USERRA, HIPAA, OSHA
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience interpreting, managing and ensuring ADA compliance including the administration of the interactive process
5 years of Human Resources experience
3 years Leave of Absence case management experience
Competencies:
Thorough knowledge of federal, state laws, regulations, rules, policies and procedures regarding workplace absence and disability designations, covering both occupational injuries and all other types of work absences
Thorough knowledge of ADA regulations and compliance requirements
Knowledge of regulations and policies governing confidentiality and the release of information
Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
Proven customer service skills including empathy, compassion, patience and enthusiasm.
