Lead Certified Medical Assistant
. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure functionality of practice operations to provide excellent patient care. Ensures medical facilities run smoothly, and works in a clerical, administrative, or clinical capacity, and may even be asked to perform more specialized tasks.
Principal Accountabilities:
Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers appropriate screening tools.
Trains MA staff in the use of current and future monitoring equipment and equipment upgrades
Consults with the nurse coordinator/manager in response to patient and physician complaints, following through to resolution
Delegates responsibilities to Certified Medical Assistant staff in order to develop their potential and follows up on performance.
Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, takes and records vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.
Taking vital signs: Typically performed before a patient sees a doctor to establish a baseline for future exams
Assisting with examinations: Working closely with physicians to perform clinical tasks
Collecting and preparing laboratory samples: Instructing patients on how to collect samples or drawing blood

Maintaining medical records: Recording patient medical histories and vital signs in the computer system
Cleaning patient rooms: Sanitizing and reorganizing patient rooms between visits
Prepping examination rooms: Ensuring the exam room is ready for the patient, including disinfecting equipment and stocking supplies
Provides emotional support related to the patient's clinical situation in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
Assists with referrals of patients to the appropriate specialist for diagnosis or treatment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
EPIC or similar EMR system
Coordinate the scheduling of MA/CMAs to ensure adequate coverage for clinical operations and patient flow.
Able to perform Blood draw, EKG as needed
Expert ability to work within computer systems
Ability to stand a minimum of 6 hours a day
Qualifications for Internal Candidates
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
1 to 3 years of prior experience.
National Certification CCMA from: NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT.
Preferred:
Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field.
3+ year of experience in Health Care services.
5+ Years Experience in outpatient, ambulatory setting
Excellent Communication, Work Ethic, Active Listening, Adaptability to working in fast pace environment, and hold upmost professionalism at all times
BLS upon hire
Bachelor's or Associate's degree from an accredited college preferred
Prior EMR experience.
Experience obtaining pre-authorizations with insurance companies.
Interfaces with appropriate vendor staff to ensure all necessary equipment will be available on site for hospital based procedures.
Confirms patient's insurance and obtains prior authorization or communicates prior authorization to appropriate parties as needed.
Ensures all required documentation and pre-testing is completed, obtained and reviewed by clinical staff prior to surgery.
Ensures patients have proper medical clearance and pre-surgical testing as needed.
Completes all pre-procedure phone calls, confirms appointment time and place and communicates instructions to patient.
Acts as liaison between the patient and physician regarding the surgery.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
