CITY OF MORGANTON Water Treatment Plant Operator in Morganton, North Carolina
Water Treatment Plant Operator - Water Resources:
An employee in this class performs a variety of operational, laboratory, and maintenance duties designed to produce safe treatment of potable water. Work includes monitoring the plant's operation through observation, mechanical readings and the results of standard chemical and biological tests, and to make necessary adjustments in the process as conditions or test results dictate. Other duties include performing standard laboratory duties and tests and assisting with plant and facilities maintenance. Work also includes substantial record keeping of work activities. The applicant must possess a high school diploma, and preferably some experience working in a water or wastewater plant. The applicant must also posses a valid North Carolina drivers license. Ability to obtain North Carolina Water Operator's Grade C Certificate within 24 months of hire date. Operation hours will be from 6:00 pm -6:00 am, and every other weekend and some holidays are required. Schedule is 3 shifts one week, 4 shifts following week.

Starting salary annual equivalent- $ 37,776 ($18.16/hr. base, 36 hrs. one week and 48 hours (including 8 hrs. overtime following week) and After completing probationary period (6 months), eligible for a 5% increase (equal to $39,664 annually).
