Our client, a global financial services company, is currently hiring for a Middle Office Operations Officer to join their team in Montreal Quebec!

Our client is an asset servicing banking group dedicated to asset managers, insurance companies, pension funds, banks, private equity and real estate funds, brokers and corporate clients. Through offices across Europe, North and South America and Asia, our client offers a broad range of services covering execution, clearing, forex, securities lending, custody, depositary and fund administration, fund distribution support, middle office outsourcing and issuer services.

The activities associated with this Team are Middle Office Servicing, Corporate Trust Client Servicing, Master Data Management and Cash Operations Processing.

Role Responsibilities

OTC Derivatives

• Affirmation of OTC products and integration of transactions in the Middle Office application

• Reconcile OTC cleared transactions with Clearing brokers

• Handle the reconciliation of Middle Office positions

Derivatives Clearing

• Input the instructions for the institutional clients or check their accuracy in the dedicated tool, taking the markets’ cut-off times into account

• Validate the client’s trades, in accordance with the orders confirmed by the brokers and transmitted to the clearing houses

• Allocate the validated orders to the client’s accounts

Middle Office for Execution

• Monitor the clearing and posting to Clients’ accounts of the derivatives transactions booked with the dealing room in our Paris Office.

• Monitor the sending of the relevant confirmations and reports to Clients.

• Trigger the sending of instructions to Custodians («vanilla» stock transactions).

Securities Settlement

• Monitor and whenever necessary repair or release instructions transiting through our dedicated settlement tool at Custodian level (Globe)

• Investigate non matching and failing trade instructions and take the appropriate actions to ensure settlement of transactions

• Liaise with the various parties involved (broker, local custodian, client, etc.) to solve any settlement issue

• Initiate account to account securities transfer requests whenever a transfer is required

Corporate Actions

• Creation and monitoring of events in the data repository upon receipt of notifications

• Notify clients and collect elections (elective events)

• Transmission of Client’s elections to the market

Qualifications:

1) Ideally 6+ months of financial services experience within (middle office / trade management/ trade clearing/ working with OTC derivatives, etc.)

2) Securities knowledge (Could be from CSC and or banking industry experience)

3) Excel (Pivot tables, Chart manipulation, Basic Formulas)

3) Attention to detail

Work Environment

Onsite 100%. Potential opportunity to go hybrid down the line.

What are the standard working hours?

Between 8 am and 8 pm, in rotating shifts that are:

8am to 4pm

9am to 5pm

10am to 6pm

12pm to 8 pm

Duration: 6 month contract to permanent (Contract to hire)
