The Senior Procurement Professional – Pharmacy Packaging will spearhead the strategic sourcing and procurement of packaging materials for our mail-order pharmacy, focusing on category management, supplier relationship development, and cost optimization to enhance company operations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in strategic sourcing, vendor negotiations, and innovative packaging solutions.
This Category Manager will develop and execute strategic category management plans for packaging materials to align with business goals and operational needs.
Identify, evaluate, and select tier 1 packaging suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, quality standards, and reliable delivery.
Lead and develop the Packaging Category Supply Strategy Council to ensure strong connections with all key stakeholders while formulating a comprehensive multi-year packaging strategy. By prioritizing stakeholder engagement and strategic planning, we will enhance our procurement practices and support sustainable growth within the organization
Negotiate long-term contracts with key suppliers to secure favorable terms and mitigate supply chain risks.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., operations, production, quality assurance) to ensure packaging meets regulatory requirements and business objectives.
Drive innovation by identifying new packaging solutions that improve efficiency, reduce costs, or enhance sustainability.
Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and industry developments to inform sourcing strategies.
Lead initiatives to optimize the Total Cost of Deliver (TCD) for packaging materials while maintaining quality standards.
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
Ensure compliance with all company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements related to packaging procurement.
Provide data-driven insights and reporting on category performance, cost savings, and supplier metrics.

Required Qualifications
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Packaging Engineering, or related field, with at least 3 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in packaging.
Sourcing & Category Management : Proven skills in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and managing packaging categories to optimize cost and quality.
Passion for Improvement: Strong interest in enhancing consumer experiences and driving innovation in packaging solutions.
Analytical & Communication Skills: Ability to analyze market trends and supplier performance, coupled with excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
Relationship Management: Experience in building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and business partner stakeholders, ensuring collaboration and alignment on quality, delivery, and overall business objectives.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Supply Chain Management, or relevant field.
Specific experience in facilities management, construction procurement, or a related industry.
Leadership Experience - Proven experience in a leadership or managerial role, overseeing procurement teams or projects.
Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)
Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM)
Project Management Professional (PMP)
Work-At-Home Requirements:
To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates must meet the following criteria:
At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.
Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.
Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$78,400 - $107,800 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
