Job Title: Data Governance Lead – Unity Catalog

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Architect with 8 to 10 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have deep technical skills in Infa Cloud Data Gov & Catalog Data Management Functional Infa Cloud Metadata Cmd Center Infa Cloud Data Marketplace Informatica AXON Data Govern DQG Architect and Informatica EDC. This hybrid role requires expertise in data governance and management with a focus on driving impactful solutions for our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and Implement Governance Framework using Unity Catalog:

Lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive data governance strategy using Unity Catalog across the Databricks platform, ensuring secure and compliant data access from landing zone to bronze, silver, and gold layers.

2. Establish Access Controls and Data Lineage:

Define and implement fine-grained access controls, handle permissions across catalogs, schemas, and tables, and enable full data lineage throughout the Medallion Architecture.

3. Standardize Metadata and Schema Management:

Work closely with data engineering and ingestion teams to standardize schema evolution, schema drift handling, and metadata enrichment aligned with Unity Catalog standard methodologies.

4. Ensure Compliance and Security Policies:

Collaborate with security and compliance teams to implement data classification, masking policies, and retention controls to meet internal and external regulatory requirements using Unity Catalog features.

5. Governance Enablement and Team member Engagement:

Act as the central point of contact for all governance-related initiatives within Databricks; deliver training, documentation, and mentorship to data stewards, engineers, and analysts to drive adoption and ensure consistent usage of Unity Catalog.

Qualifications:

  • Must have deep technical skills in Infa Cloud Data Gov & Catalog Data Management Functional Infa Cloud Metadata Cmd Center Infa Cloud Data Marketplace Informatica AXON Data Govern DQG Architect and Informatica EDC.

  • Nice to have domain skills in Sales Planning & Execution and Marketing & Branding.

  • Must have 8 to 10 years of meaningful experience in data governance and management.

  • Must be able to work in a hybrid model with a day shift.

  • Must have superb communication and collaboration skills.

  • Must be diligent and able to handle multiple priorities.

  • Must be proactive and able to work independently.

  • Must have a solid understanding of data governance and management standard processes.

  • Must be able to provide technical mentorship and support to team members.

  • Must be able to develop and maintain data catalogs.

  • Must be able to implement data governance frameworks.

  • Must be able to ensure data quality and compliance.

Certifications Required

Informatica Certified Professional Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)

Salary and Other Compensation :

Applications will be accepted until May 16, 2025.

The annual salary for this position is between $100,000 - $156,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
