Pearl Interactive Network Assistant Controller in Montgomery, Alabama

Pearl Interactive Network is hiring an Assistant Controller.

The Assistant Controller participates in the monthly financial close and day-to-day accounting transaction activities, works in the ERP system, responds to audit requests as directed, analyzes and reconciles account activity, prepares financial reports, performs financial analyses, and interacts with operational managers and corporate staff. The person in this position will be primarily responsible for billing and collections, revenue recognition, maintaining general ledger accounts and reconciliations, assisting in the implementation and testing of new system modules, and ensuring compliance with government contracting regulations (FAR and CAS).

Operating Hours: 8 am - 5 pm EST, Monday - Friday

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Compliance

  • Manage/perform contract billing and collections and general ledger accounting and reconciliations, ensuring compliance with FAR and CAS regulations.

  • Ensure DCAA-compliant accounting practices and support audits.

  • Assist in the documentation of accounting policies and procedures and ensure accounting is conducted in accordance with these and other company policies and procedures.

  • Enforce internal controls to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Accounting & Billing

  • Participate in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.

  • Prepare general ledger account reconciliations and analyses, ensuring compliance with GAAP.

  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all government contract billing invoices.

  • Manage the contract billing invoice collections process and communication with customers.

Government Contract Accounting

  • Prepare project accounting, ensuring proper cost allocation to contracts.

  • Assist in maintaining indirect rates (Fringe, Overhead, G&A).

  • Support contract pricing and cost proposals, ensuring compliance with government requirements.

  • Provide supporting analyses to auditors , as directed, to ensure financial transparency.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Mentor the accounting specialist(s), fostering professional growth.

  • Coordinate with program managers, contracts, and business development teams on financial matters, as directed.

  • Ensure all financial policies and procedures are followed to ensure efficiency and compliance.

  • Manage relationships with various outside customers, vendors, and partners.

Other Duties

  • Support the annual financial audit and prepare audit documentation, as directed.

  • Support DCAA and financial system audits by providing documentation and responses as directed.

  • Support the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts.

  • Assist in tax compliance efforts with multi-state income and business taxes, as directed.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 5+ years of accounting experience , with a minimum of 2 years in government contracting.

  • Basic knowledge of FAR, CAS, and DCAA audit requirements.

  • Knowledge of Deltek Costpoint.

  • Expertise in GAAP accounting principles.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

  • Ability to be responsive and timely and work within tight deadlines.

  • Computer skills including: MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.

Preferred:

  • CPA candidacy or certification.

  • Experience with ERP systems and financial automation tools.

  • Prior work with healthcare or technology-focused government contractors.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to sit for prolonged periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
