United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile and Central Alabama CCEP Regional Coordinator OJT in Mobile, Alabama

The purpose of a CCEP Inclusion Consultant is to help promote the concept of developmentally appropriate practices for early childhood education and to assist in all facets of the CCEP program. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Modeling and Counseling Responsible for modeling and counseling childcare providers, as well as directors of childcare centers, on including children with special healthcare needs in the classroom and to promote the concept of developmentally-appropriate practices for early childhood education.

CCEP Training Facilitate CCEP training in conjunction with the CCEP Project Coordinator for childcare providers and other target audiences; work with CCEP Regional Coordinator to schedule therapists, as needed for training Technical Assistance Provide technical assistance in classrooms by modeling, mentoring and consulting Paperwork Turn in all required paperwork by designated deadlines.

  • Parent Education Participate in parent education by providing a Parent Information Resources Table at childcare centers receiving CCEP training, when requested by the center.
  • Developmental Screenings Coordinate with the screening team and childcare providers on scheduling developmental screenings of children with written permission from the parents/guardians of that child Fundraising Assist with fundraising efforts.
  • Safety All UCP of Mobile employees must know and follow job safety procedures, attend required health and safety training, proactively promote safety at work, and promptly report actual and potential accidents and injuries.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Human Services or related field from an accredited educational institution and at least 3-5 years of experience in early childhood education management; appropriate year-for-year experience may be substituted for education
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and driver's liability

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical Demands Light/Sedentary Exert up to 201bs of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, move up or down stairs including the human body; involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking and standing for brief periods of time

  • Physical Demands (movement) Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and use hands
  • Physical Demands (auditory) Must be able to exchange and express ideas by means of the spoken word. Worker must be able to impart oral information to clients and/or to the public, and must be able to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly and/or quickly; must be able to perceive the nature of sounds and receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Physical Demands (vision) - Must be able to observe an area that can see up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point
  • Environmental Conditions and Physical Surroundings (work environment) Exposure to varied work environments and requires adaptation to facility visits
  • Equipment Used Requires frequent use of a telephone to provide information in a clear, understandable manner to callers; requires frequent use of office equipment such as computer, copy machine and/or fax Requires frequent travel time visiting childcare centers and other agency-related business
