Job Description

As a part of our continued growth, our Greater Toronto Area Water group has an outstanding opportunity for an Engineering Manager who will manage execution of the engineering component of multiple traditional, design-build, design-bid-build, and collaborative delivery projects including advanced treatment facilities, and carbon neutral solutions. Their goal is to establish requirements for consistent delivery quality and to work with our project teams to put these into practice .

The ideal candidate will have a successful track record in designing and managing large water and wastewater infrastructure projects and programs (>$100M in construction value) including the design and construction phases of municipal infrastructure, preferably in the Greater Toronto Area. You will work in a team environment with intermediate and senior engineers to deliver advanced water and wastewater treatment projects to our client base in the GTA. This position can be based out of our Markham or Mississauga office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Supports, oversees and coordinates engineering production activities for an operating unit.

  • Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative.

  • Initiates and maintains contact with senior-level management within the company and is skilled in dispute resolution and negotiation of critical issues. At this level, the individual will have demonstrated understanding of project delivery requirements, creativity, foresight, working with a multi-disciplinary team to meet project goals and deliver high quality technical excellence.

  • Demonstrates mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual operations problems, determining operational objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.

  • Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

  • Defines standard delivery practices to be executed by a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and technicians on high profile municipal projects

  • Work with project teams to define specific design requirements and oversee the technical delivery of our most complex projects

  • Mentor engineering staff, identifying developmental growth opportunities

  • Identify gaps and areas of risk in our current delivery practices and develop improvement/mitigation strategies

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or related field

  • 10+years of experience in the technical/design management of water/wastewater projects/programs including 2 years of leadership

  • Driver’s license in good standing

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Registration or ability to obtain professional registration with a provisional Engineering Association

  • Experience in delivering large scale multi-disciplinary projects

  • Solid technical skills in one of the practice areas of water/wastewater or municipal/industrial infrastructure, developed within a professional services environment, ideally with consulting engineering experience

  • Exceptional client care and service delivery skills.

  • Experience in working with geographically dispersed project teams that have successfully delivered major design projects within budget and on schedule

  • Experience leading and developing multi discipline project teams that may reside in multiple offices and in multiple countries

  • Proven project management skills including PM certifications.

  • Knowledge of alternative delivery models including DB, PDB, DBFOM, Alliance and other collaborative delivery models.

  • Keen business acumen coupled with strong business development experience

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $142,000.00 - $255,000.00.
