L3Harris Manager, Systems Engineering in Mirabel, Canada

About your next Challenge as a Manager, Mission / Avionics Systems:

  • Provide leadership and develop a group of engineers and technologists with expertise in avionics and electrical engineering;

  • Coordinate and assign your group’s resources to the various projects while taking into account the execution phases, the customer's requirements and the skills of your team members, to meet the required quality, timelines and budgets established by the project engineering team.

    More precisely, you will:

  • Report to the Senior Manager, Systems Engineering, and be a key player in establishing and achieving quality goals, continuous improvement and training for your sector;

  • Act as a leader in influencing your collaborators and colleagues, and contribute to the establishment of a new matrix organization that seeks to improve the process of efficiently assigning resources to different projects.

  • Be responsible for assessing the level of manpower and participating in the recruitment process;

  • Be a technical leader and mentor who will develop innovative work approaches that will increase the efficiency and mobility of resources.

  • Be asked to work in collaboration with the representatives of the various L3 MAS services, as well as the representatives of our military and commercial customers;

  • Ensure that your team works in accordance to industry best practices and L3 MAS and corporation organizational values.

    What You Will Do:

    Employees Leadership and Development:

  • Administrative management, i.e. leave / vacation, schedules / timesheets;

  • Performance Appraisal, progress and promotion process;

  • Planning career development opportunities for employees;

  • Organizing, supporting and getting involved in recognition activities with team;

  • Development and monitoring of training requirements, succession plans and coaching;

  • Disciplinary management (respect of policies, ethics).

    Capacity management:

  • Review/approval of work estimates and schedules;

  • Active participation in demand/capacity analyses with Project and Program teams;

  • Responsibility for assigning resources to different projects;

  • Hiring and welcoming new employees in times of growth.

    Management/optimization of skills and standardization of practices for own discipline:

  • Optimization and standardization of procedures and working methods to increase efficiency and mobility of resources and career development opportunities;

  • Proposal and development of engineering manuals;

  • Technological watch for your discipline; Participation in the alignment with the segment technology roadmap.

    Quality management of deliverables:

  • Be the resource person in your field; overall reference for the discipline;

  • Ensure the performance of your team to meet the objectives of cost, quality and schedule;

  • Review and approve, as required, data, documents and analyses on various projects;

  • Respond to quality metrics, risks and Corrective Action Requests (CARs), and implementation of action plans.

    Required Skills and Experiences:

  • Bachelor degree in aeronautical, avionics or equivalent engineering discipline;

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in aerospace avionics and electrical;

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in personnel supervision or as team leader;

  • Excellent knowledge of multiple varied Avionics Systems and understanding of how these systems integrate and interact to the overall aircraft;

  • Knowledge of aeronautics industry processes, standards for minimum operations and performance such as RTCA, EUROCONTROL and other;

  • Experience with Computer Assisted Design (ePlan P8, AutoCAD and CATIA V5/V6);

  • Familiarity with systems engineering best practices in aerospace such as SAE ARP4754a and ISO‑15288, or AS9100D quality standard will be considered a strong asset;

  • Knowledge of maintenance concepts, probabilistic analysis and reliability would be an asset;

  • Familiarity with the F/A-18 Hornet, CT-114 Tutor, CC-150 Polaris (Airbus 310), or the CP-140 Orion (P3) avionics systems would be an asset;

  • Bilingualism (French and English) is desirable.

  • Location not accessible via public transportation, car required.

    Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance;

  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
