As the Bike Shop Service Manager, you are empowered to create and lead a dynamic, successful, and passionate retail bike shop team. The Bike Shop Service Manager, you are a key operational team member that reports directly to the General Manager. You'll train your team, engage with customers to recommend the right service at the right time, manage and control service costs, keep service orders organized, ensure a clean and efficient department, and take an active lead in ensuring the proper bikes are built and delivered to the sales floor and your customers. Excellent communication skills are a must, as you will manage all communication from the Service Department to customers and write more than 50% of the work orders for the shop.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrate and motivate service staff to exceed customer expectations and drive performance to the highest level.
Motivate staff to keep repair times to a minimum while maintaining high-quality standards.
Create and monitor the daily repair schedule.
Track and order service supplies and repair parts.
Ensure service policies and procedures are adhered to and operations are efficient and safe.
Hire, train, and develop staff.
Inspect and diagnose bike issues.
Repair and maintain bikes and components.
Advise customers on bike maintenance.
Carry out routine checks.
Carry out maintenance and servicing of bicycles.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Solid understanding of bicycle repair and maintenance.
Prior experience in building, repairing, and selling bicycles is preferred.
2 – 3 years of management experience.
Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong customer service focus.
Ability to manage, inspire, and lead a team.
Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Working Conditions:
This position requires the ability to be mobile and stand for extended periods of time. This position also required the ability to bend, lift, open, and move items up to 75 lbs. while utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques.
