Position Summary:
Bio-Techne is seeking an innovative and experienced Senior Scientist to join our growing team to support robust manufacturing of game-changing technologies for the analysis of biomolecules, including capillary and gel electrophoresis, immunoassays, and microfluidics. In this role, you will participate in process improvement, troubleshooting, product transfer and scale-up activities. You will be a key driver and act independently to address pre- or post-launch manufacturing, quality control, and customer issues. This will include troubleshooting problems and improving products or processes. Improvement in processes will increase yields, quality, reproducibility, and flexibility; will decrease failure rates and turn-around times; will improve documentation, characterization and tracking where required; and will facilitate inter-departmental transfer of processes and goods.

Key Responsibilities:
Supporting Operations Manufacturing
Support robust analytical reagents and assays for biomolecule characterization
Solve technology and development challenges through meticulous characterization and troubleshooting
Apply operations knowledge in timely resolution of product or process technical issues
Use data-driven decisions to progress projects and prepare summaries and reports on project status
Assist with manufacturing process transfer, and design and execute verification and validation (V&V) plans
Expert in analytical science
Good understanding of protein chemistry and bioanalytical techniques, including electrophoretic and chromatographic separations and immunoassay detection
Good understanding of biophysical and chemical property measurements
Collaboration and technical leadership
Provide technical leadership and support to Manufacturing in investigation of problems, corrective actions, deviations, risk assessments and process changes
Provide technical direction, assist with training and give guidance to others in the department and organization
Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality Control, R&D Scientists and Engineering teams to support robust manufacturing of products
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Ph.D. in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, or a related field with 5-8 years of relevant experience is required
Or, M.S in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, or a related field with 8-10 years of experience is required
Candidates with additional experience in capillary electrophoresis or developing immunoassays and associated reagents are preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience in biotechnology manufacturing for research use only (RUO) or in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) is required
Demonstrated experience enabling robust scalable products and manufacturing procedures, including verification and validation studies is strongly desired
Critical thinking and independence are recognized by peers and leadership
Independently take on additional responsibilities of a highly complex nature
Experience with immunoassays (e.g., ELISA, western blot, MSD) or other protein characterization techniques is preferred
Familiar with protein separation, protein purification, and protein detection methods (e.g., HPLC, capillary electrophoresis (CZE, cIEF, CE-SDS) microfluidics) or automation is desirable
Demonstrated experience designing and performing highly complex experiments independently for self and others
Ability to identify technical and non-technical solutions to maintain product performance and consistent customer experience
Confident with laboratory instrumentation and automation is a plus
Knowledge of fluidic device surface modification and polymer chemistry is a plus
Highly motivated and able to balance several projects concurrently
Outstanding documentation and organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in research and manufacturing environments
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word). Experience with JMP software is a plus.
