We are builders at heart, working to ensure the built environment has a lasting positive impact. | Let's Redefine Possible Responsible for leading estimating efforts of gathering, calculating, and compiling data to produce project estimates for large projects, may also manage multiple projects RESPONSIBILITIES Organize, plan and schedule for estimate preparation, leads teams of estimators on large projects Facilitate meetings necessary for completion of estimate, including kick off, status updates, plan flips, final reviews, etc. Assign work to ensure complete and reliable estimate incorporating all relevant information, including, but not limited to contract documents, communication with design team and owner, tax laws, collective bargaining agreements, permits and other regulatory requirements, etc. Adjust assignments as necessary to complete the estimate in time allotted. Prepare trade partner strategy and prepare invitation to bid / budget, working with project team to guarantee complete pricing coverage. Obtain all relevant documents including BIM (Building Information Model) necessary to complete quantity survey and to assist in understanding of project. Promote collaboration between all parties to ensure complete understanding of scope that leads to comprehensive Scope and Budget Alignment. Work with estimating team to ensure complete Quantity Survey of materials / resources required to complete the project - Use knowledge of project type and construction best practices to "fill in the gaps" in early design documents to ensure a complete and thorough estimate that reflects the total scope of work necessary. Effectively works with estimating, project and design teams to identify and mitigate risk to the project budget and margin Prepares team for and manages Bid Day Prepares team and manages estimate presentation to design team and owner demonstrating complete command of scope and budget Utilize Eos Cortex to create cost models and target values to inform customer budgets. Perform cost studies to assist design team in selection of building systems, materials and other design requirements. Assist Design Phase Team in steering design to budget. Self-Performed Work expertise - prepare or supervise preparation of all self-performed work scopes utilizing appropriate levels of detail and TCH (Task Code History) to accurately price the work. Consistently advances the capabilities of the group through involvement in group and company initiatives and through coaching of less experienced team members. Maintain industry knowledge base - utilize all available resources, trade journals, conferences, work on projects, etc. to maintain knowledge of industry best practices, trends and challenges. QUALIFICATIONS Associate or Bachelor's degree in Estimating, Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience Minimum nine years construction industry experience Expertise with building and estimating techniques and software. Able to manage multiple large projects successfully exhibiting complete command of the scope and budget. Recognizes risk and works with design phase teams to mitigate the risk. Has thorough understanding of pricing, productivities for self-performed work and works to maintain quality of data. Understands productivity (MCA/SMACNA/NECA) and how to apply it to estimated labor, including local labor rates Build and maintain relationships with trade partners outside of geographic offices Build and maintain relationships with design engineers Up to date with new code adoptions and can identify and communicate design deficiencies that are not in alignment with new codes Ability to travel up to 20% BENEFITS Mortenson provides a comprehensive benefits program to team members and their families to support their health, build long-term financial security and provide the opportuni y for work and life balance.
