Essential Functions: Research: 60% Perform a variety of molecular and biochemical analyses on human or animal specimens, including fluorescence microscopy analysis. Isolate, purify, and culture specimens using sterile techniques following standard operation procedures. Grow and maintain stable cell cultures and lines as needed. Keep detailed records of all experiments and procedures in laboratory notebooks, databases, spreadsheets, and web-based applications. Conduct background literature research on relevant topics including current methods, reagents, and ethics. Admin/Management: 20% Help monitor and train undergraduate student workers. Assists in ordering items for lab and following up purchases. Assists in general organization and administration of day-to-day activities of the lab. Maintenance 20%: Maintains lab in good working conditions and ensures other members of lab also do so. Prepare media, enzymes, and solutions under sterile conditions in large quantities. Qualifications Required Qualifications: BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years.
