Processing and preparation for analysis of collected samples in accordance with standard procedures. Analysis of collected samples in chemistry laboratory in accordance with standard operating procedures and best laboratory practices. Quality Control/Quality Assurance analysis of data in preparation for reporting to end user clients. Job Duties: 40% - Analyzing samples on lab instrumentation 10% - Conduct Quality Assurance/Quality Control analysis 10% - Assist in writing reports, papers, and Standard Operating Procedures 10% - Field collection of soil, water, plant samples 10% - Organizing and tracking samples 5% - Weighing out samples for analysis 5% - Reagent preparation for lab analyses 5% - Washing lab ware 5% - Other lab and field duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Qualifications: BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years; applies knowledge and skill to a recurring task or activity with emphasis typically on precision and timeliness of execution. Experience in one or more of the following areas, field collection, documentation and processing of environmental samples, chemical analysis of soil, water and/or plant samples, operation/maintenance of environmental laboratory analytical instruments. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in environmental science or related field. Experience using Microsoft Offices software. Experience with operation of one or more of the following: Carbon/Nitrogen combustion analyzers, Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometer, Isotope Ration Mass Spectrometer, Liquid Ion Chromatography, and/or Flow Injection Analyzer. Experience applying Quality Control/Quality Assurance standards to data. Basic understanding of laboratory safety and laboratory best practices.
