Job ID360462 LocationAll Other -See Job Description Job FamilySupplemental Employee Full/Part TimePart-Time Regular/TemporaryTemporary Job Code0001 Employee ClassCivil Service About the Job Title:Interpretive Tram Driver Appointment: 67-day Temporary Employee (April thru October) Supervisor:Manager of Interpretation and Visitor Learning Pay: $18.00/hr OVERVIEW: As part of the Education Department and the public face of the Arboretum, the Interpretive Tram Specialist drives and narrates a one-hour tram ride for ticketed guests. For many guests, the tram ride is a first introduction to the Arboretum. It is important for the Interpretive Tram Specialist to provide an enjoyable, informative experience that conveys the Arboretum's work and all the Arboretum offers in a way that encourages visitors to explore further after their ride, and to return in the future. JOB DESCRIPTION Perform daily equipment check on Tram, and refuel Tram at end of day Greet ticketed passengers, assist in boarding as needed Maintain a very high level of customer service for all Tram passengers Keep records as required; make comment cards available to visitors Attend and participate in training sessions Adhere to the General Behavior Statements document (attached to this job description) Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a strong interest in and enthusiasm for the Arboretum and its mission, proven superb customer service skills, demonstrated record-keeping experience, and a desire to work outdoors. Successful applicants must successfully complete Tram Driver training, pass a background check, and will be subject to random drug testing. DESIRED: Public speaking experience A positive outgoing personality including a dose of patience and sense of humor Previous experience operating a Tram Experience working as part of a team About the Department The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a community outreach unit of the University of Minnesota's College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences. The Arboretum is located west of Minneapolis/St Paul and its 1,200 acres traverse the municipalities of Chaska, Chanhassen and Victoria. As a member of the American Public Garden Association and an accredited museum through the American Alliance of Museums, the Arboretum is a tremendous public asset.
