Job ID360652 LocationAll Other -See Job Description Job FamilyLR-Clerical Full/Part TimePart-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code1811 Employee ClassAFSCME Unit 6 - Clerical About the Job TITLE: Reception Desk Agent SUPERVISOR: Guest Services Manager CLASSIFICATION: 1811 Office Support Assistant LOCATION: Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, Chanhassen, MN This position assists the Guest Services team with greeting guests, collecting admission, promoting and selling equipment rentals and tram fees, answering phone calls, and providing top-quality customer service. This is an AFSCME Clerical union represented hourly position (working variable hours not to exceed 19.5 hours per week). Starting hourly rate: $20.80/hr JOB DESCRIPTION: 50% - Greeting Guests and Providing Information for Visitors Greet guests at the Information Desk in the Oswald Visitor Center Provide information to visitors about the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum campus including Learning Center, The Farm and Horticultural Research Center Collect money for admission fees, tram tickets, seasonal equipment rentals Use the Altru system for POS transactions 40% - Communications Answer incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate personnel Use base radio to locate staff and relay messages Act as dispatch in emergencies such as severe weather and medical emergencies by calling 911 to notify the correct staff, complete accident forms, communicate to the gatehouse for emergency vehicles and monitor the radio for situation changes. Ensure promotional signs & video screens are up to date in the McQuinn Great Hall - if they are not - contact the appropriate department to update Use various sources to keep yourself up to date on the latest news of the Arboretum including the newsletter, the website, & email. Check Arbinfo's email and forward messages to appropriate contacts so they may follow up in a timely manner Check your personal University email to ensure you are up to date on recent information and changes 10% - Provide Office Support Maintain brochure supplies and inform departments when running low Event registration support Assist with projects such as mailings, compiling packets, etc during slower times Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (must be mentioned on application or resume): High School diploma/GED or equivalent and one year of general office/clerical experience. Training/education may substitute for some of the experience. Experience working in a customer service setting Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Previous experience working with cash Ability to work a flexible schedule mainly to include Saturday and Sunday and evenings Ability and willingness to learn customer relationship management software PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with Altru CRM software Knowledge of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum About the Department The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a community outreach unit of the University of Minnesota's College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences. The Arboretum is located west of Minneapolis/St Paul and its 1,200 acres traverse the municipalities of Chaska, Chanhassen and Victoria.
