Wolters Kluwer Manager, Consulting – Legal Operations in Minneapolis, Minnesota
LOCATION: Hybrid – 8 days a month in the office (see locations listed on the posting).
OVERVIEW
You will be responsible for working with management to drive challenging, market-responsive performance standards and goals of the Legal Bill Analysis Center of Excellence (“LBACOE”), which consists of Legal Invoice Analysts, Quality Assurance Analysts, Operations Support Specialists, Managers, Associate Directors, and Director.
You will supervise and lead a group of 8+ legal bill review analysts (“Team”) within the LBACOE and ensure that their Team’s workflow meets and/or exceeds the established standards by utilizing defined metrics and process improvement initiatives. You would be responsible for the prompt, accurate and efficient auditing of electronically submitted legal fee and expense invoices by their Team and themselves. You will also be responsible for adjusting invoice line-item entries, where those line-item entries violate provisions of the relevant billing guidelines and documenting justification for such adjustments. Your role supervises and appraises the performance of their Team, including providing coaching and identifying development opportunities.
You would be responsible for: (1) developing, documenting and maintaining effective methodologies for training new LBACOE invoice analysts; (2) training new LBACOE invoice analysts on approved legal billing review techniques and platforms; (3) assessing the training needs of LBACOE invoice analysts on a regular basis and; (4) training LBACOE invoice analysts on an ongoing basis, as needed. Further your responsibility is for the creation and implementation of quality assurance methodologies, subject to approval by management, as well as the ongoing monitoring/auditing of LBACOE analyst work to ensure compliance with established quality standards.
RESPONSIBLITITES
Supervise LBACOE invoice analysts to ensure the efficient and accurate review legal invoice entries. Coordinate and distribute legal bill assignments to team members. Verify the accuracy of the UTBMS task codes (Fee, Activity and Expense codes) applied to invoice line items.
Work with the LBACOE to create a culture of empowerment, engagement, and innovation.
Ensure performance excellence and operational efficiencies through a continually evolving organizational structure. Supervise and motivate high quality, professional LBACOE analysts.
Monitor daily and long-term LBA delivery production, often based on customer pre-determined schedules.
Ability to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions; ability to respond to requests effectively and efficiently.
Developing, documenting and maintaining training documentation necessary to driver shorter ramp-up time using effective methodologies for new LBACOE analysts
Developing and conducting quality assurance on regular basis to train, coach LBACOE analysts on approved legal billing review techniques, customer specific service levels & ELM billing platforms. In addition, during heavy periods of incoming invoice volume, conduct the initial audit and/or quality assurance invoice review audit up to 15% of the time.
Simplifying legal service agreements to produce effective operational outputs meeting and, in some cases, exceeding customer expectations
Creating, tracking, and analyzing data on reviewer performance metrics using customer lens to provide upwards recommendation to management, senior leadership, and customers on how to improve customer experience
Monitoring, training, and calibrating LBACOE analysts on an ongoing basis to manage conformance to LBACOE compliance & quality standards
Conducting team events and best operational practices to drive high employee engagement & lead by example to Wolters Kluwer Purpose & Value promise
Provide support to organization and customers, team wide initiative to improve or build customer centric operations
QUALIFICATIONS
Education : Bachelor’s Degree or related, equivalent experience. Juris Doctor or MBA preferred.
Experience:
1+ years of prior supervisory experience, preferably in a legal billing or claims environment.
5+ years’ experience in the legal industry with 3+ years as an attorney, paralegal, legal spend analyst, legal bill auditor, legal bill reviewer, or billing coordinator for law firms.
Ability to obtain information from others and deliver information to internal and external parties orally and in written form.
Ability to read legal rules and guidelines and apply them to a series of information.
Familiar with e-billing systems and Microsoft Excel.
Ability to review, analyze, and evaluate legal fee and cost and expense invoice entries and to exercise discretion and sound judgment when making audit and adjustment decisions.
Understanding of legal terminology and claims legal situations, multijurisdictional exposure preferred.
Leadership skills with an ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve goals, including productivity, timeliness, and accuracy.
Prior experience training new staff members, preferably in a legal setting. Strong coaching and employee development skills.
Data analysis and reporting skills, including team productivity and quality tracking.
Computer skills with the ability to learn the electronic legal bill submission and auditing software.
Sound understanding of the English language-- grammar, syntax and style -- including an understanding of the conventions of punctuation and capitalization. Excellent spelling and proofreading skills.
Organizational skills, including the ability to organize work in an orderly fashion conducive to the scheduling of prompt, efficient review of an appropriate number of legal invoices in a given day or time period.
Familiarity with common business math and possess appropriate business telephone skills.

Ability to travel domestically in the US independently
Ability to obtain a Citi Corporate Credit Card to cover company expenses

Compensation:
Target salary range CA, CT, CO, DC, HI, IL, MD, MN, NY, RI, WA: $114,750 - $160,450
