Our Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building and system engineering, sustainability and decarbonization consulting, urbanism, planning and strategy, economics, technology solutions, asset advisory, and cost and program management. AECOM is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our Great Lakes office. Sit in Minneapolis, MN, Detroit, MI, or Grand Rapids, MI , and be part of our international engineering practice.
This position is expected to begin in spring or summer 2025.
This highly motivated individual will design HVAC and plumbing for all building types, including laboratories, clean rooms, healthcare, and high-tech clients. The ideal candidate will have a passion for designing custom solutions for unique projects, interacting with AECOM electrical, structural, civil, and transportation engineers and architects, and developing calculations, construction drawings, and design reports under the supervision of a Senior Engineer.

Job Responsibilities:
The Junior Mechanical Engineer should be capable of taking direction from a Senior Engineer to complete both small and large projects.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external clients is required.
Candidate must be well organized, be able to demonstrate critical thinking to quickly recognize issues and be part of the solution.
Have knowledge of the ASHRAE standards and building codes.
Have experience with analysis and layout of HVAC systems for buildings. Experience with plumbing systems, hydronic piping, and/or medical gas is a plus.
Participate in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering with interest in thermodynamics, fluid flow, refrigeration
Working knowledge of relevant engineering software: REVIT, CAD, load calculation software, Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
2 years of HVAC design experience in an engineering consulting environment
Construction phase experience: submittal reviews, on-site inspections, RFIs, change orders, etc.
Plumbing and Medical Gas design experience for hospitals and labs

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $60,000.00 - $80,000.00.
