Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Field Technician with an interest in geosynthetics installation, preferably involving High Density Polyethylene Geomembrane. This role involves landfill construction oversight and quality control, working closely with contractors to ensure project standards. The ideal candidate should be willing to travel within Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois, with potential for further travel.
Responsibilities
Lead geosynthetics installation work on current and future projects.
Oversee landfill construction or general construction oversight, ensuring quality control.
Travel within Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois, with potential for further travel.
Conduct surveying as necessary.
Perform soils testing, including Nuclear Density Testing, lab testing, and geotechnical sample collection.
Make soils observations as needed.
Essential Skills
Experience in geosynthetics installation, preferably High Density Polyethylene Geomembrane.
Landfill construction oversight or general construction oversight experience.
Willingness to travel extensively in specified regions.
Surveying experience (preferred).
Soils testing experience, including Nuclear Density Testing, soils lab testing, and geotechnical sample collection (preferred).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in construction inspection and civil engineering.
Proficiency in quality control and use of inspection equipment.
Ability to work independently and with small teams.
Work Environment
The role is field-based, working 100% at solid waste landfill sites. Projects include utility and MSW landfill construction oversight, contract interaction, soil compaction, and synthetic installation. The position involves long hours (10-11 hour days) from Monday to Friday, with weekend work preferred. The work environment is laid-back with a strong team-oriented culture. Employees have a vested interest in the company's success through an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan). The team primarily consists of 1-2 other members working closely with construction contractors.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
