JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Overview The Department of English at Marquette University invites applications for a visiting position in first-year writing and upper-level English at the Teaching Assistant Professor rank for the 2024-25 academic year. The position may be renewable depending on successful performance and availability of funding. Possible specializations could include workplace writing, technical writing, cultural rhetorics, literature, creative writing, and honors. Duties and Responsibilities The successful candidate will teach eight courses per year, including sections of our innovative Foundations in Rhetoric course and upper-division courses in the instructor\'s area of specialization. The successful candidate will have full responsibility for the courses, including course and syllabus preparation; grading exams and papers. Must maintain a minimum of three office hours per week. Five years of teaching experience or other suitable professional experience. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong commitment to teaching first-year writing, particularly with an anti-racist focus. Knowledge of effective and inclusive teaching techniques and strategies. Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching. Ability to contribute to fostering the diversity of the campus, curriculum, and/or discipline.
