JOB REQUIREMENTS: Summer Reading Instructor, Tragil Wade-Johnson Summer Reading Program Posting Number: 201104280 Employment Status: Part Time Job Family: Faculty Position Overview Summer Reading Instructors are responsible for planning and implementing literacy instruction during the Hartman Center\'s Tragil Wade-Johnson Summer Reading Program. The program consists of 60 hours of instruction and 40 hours of professional development. Instructors must be available from June 12, 2025 through July 18, 2025. Pre-program professional development takes place in June 12, 13, and 14. We are able to accommodate contractual obligations, if needed. The program is not in session June 30-July 4. Instruction takes place Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30am and 1:00pm. Dates and hours of availability may be adjusted depending on program requirements and student availability. Summer Reading Instructors are required to participate in professional development after reading instruction has ended ontwo days each week until 4:30pm. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Plan and implement elementary reading and science instruction. 2. Assess children\'s learning pre-instruction and post-instruction. 3. Effectively manage elementary children in a small group context. 4. Participate in all professional development activities designed to increase teaching expertise. 5. Attend all program-related activities to include off-campus field trips that occur outside of instructional time. 6. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities This will be open to MU elementary teacher preparation undergraduates who have completed EDUC 4964. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Current teaching license. Experience teaching in the elementary school. Experience teaching small group reading intervention. A background check is required for this position.
