Job Title: Quality Manager

Job Description

The Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring that the quality systems are robust, compliant, and continuously improved in alignment with industry standards, particularly in aerospace, defense, and medical device sectors. This role requires a leader with deep expertise in quality management systems, particularly in adherence to AS9100, ISO standards, and the application of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP). The Quality Manager will lead quality audits, both internal and external, and drive the implementation of quality improvements across the organization, ensuring that all products and processes meet or exceed customer expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, implement, and maintain quality systems in accordance with the International Standard AS9100, ISO standards, and ISO 9001 specification.

  • Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations and standards, including ISO standards for aerospace, defense, and medical devices.

  • Administer the compliance of First Article Inspection (FAI) and/or Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements.

  • Develop, maintain, and control quality records, ensuring traceability and adherence to established procedures.

  • Coordinate customer quality audits of the company’s quality systems, ensuring thorough preparation and successful outcomes.

  • Conduct internal quality audits, providing support for corrective action implementation and follow-up.

  • Coordinate annual improvements to the quality system, including the review and update of procedures and the application of APQP principles.

  • Participate in supplier quality audits, ensuring suppliers comply with ISO and AS9100 standards, and maintain records of supplier performance.

  • Identify and coordinate annual quality-related training programs for the organization.

  • Assist in the development and distribution of control plans to ensure consistent quality standards across all processes.

  • Establish and maintain procedures for incoming material inspection, product traceability, and monitoring and control of special processes.

  • Monitor quality performance according to established procedures, identifying, evaluating, and coordinating the implementation of improvements in products and processes.

  • Ensure that quality data is accumulated, evaluated, and communicated to relevant personnel for necessary action.

  • Develop and maintain procedures for managing non-conforming products and track progress to establish improvement plans.

  • Establish procedures for inspection and testing activities, ensuring accurate documentation and maintenance of records for inspecting, measuring, and testing equipment.

Essential Skills

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in quality management systems, particularly in adherence to AS9100, ISO standards, and ISO 9001.

  • Proficiency in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).

  • Experience in conducting and leading quality audits.

  • Familiarity with First Article Inspection (FAI) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements.

  • Strong record-keeping and documentation skills.

  • Ability to coordinate and implement quality-related training programs.

  • Experience in supplier quality audits and maintaining supplier performance records.

  • Capability to develop and distribute control plans for consistent quality standards.

  • Proficiency in monitoring and improving quality performance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification.

  • Experience with International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) compliance.

  • Experience in the automotive, medical, or military industries is a significant plus.

Work Environment

The Quality Manager will be part of a senior leadership team consisting of five members, three of whom have been with the company for less than six months. The team includes one quality technician with ten years of tenure. The company has recently undergone a restructuring, resulting in a refreshed and rebuilding team. This presents a unique opportunity to contribute to and shape a dynamic and evolving quality management environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52.00 - $57.00/hr.
