MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY POSSE Adult Peer Counselor in MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Overview A POSSE Adult Peer Counselor (APC) supports The POSSE Project summer session as a co-facilitator and conducts engaging mentoring sessions for young adult sickle cell warriors ages 18-19 years. The APC develop an enduring, trusting relationship with warriors and support them: 1) in their self-care management for their sickle cell disease, 2) in their transition from pediatric to adult health care 3) in their transition from high school to college, 4) in developing effective life skills as warriors work toward individual health, academic, and personal goals and 5) be introduced to the campus living experience. Duties and Responsibilities -Complete Adult Peer Counselor Training as scheduled/assigned, June 5th and 6th, 6-8pm, at Marquette (location TBD) -Serve as a co-facilitator with overnight stay in the dorms during the one-week summer session 2024 (6 days) -Serve as a positive role model and advocate. -Maintain confidentiality with shared information. -Complete summer session evaluations and monthly evaluations as needed. -Submit Report Forms containing session attendance and summaries as requested. -Assess POSSE participant\'s needs and provide personalized support. -Monitor participant progress toward short term and long-term goals during sessions. -Communicate any training needs and/or POSSE participant concerns to your Program Coordinator. -Assist with programming and/or workshops as requested by your Program Coordinator. -Perform other duties as assigned by your Program Coordinator.
