Under the direction of the Safety Manager, this position is responsible of collecting EHS data to assess regulatory compliance and maintains EHS sampling equipment. Enters data into Materion Safety and ensures data integrity. Conducts EHS audits and observations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collects health, safety and environmental samples and maintains EHS sampling equipment. Understands the theory behind exposure assessment and relevant EHS sampling equipment
Enters EHS data into Materion safety and independently authors EHS reports summarizing the data. Creates recommendations based on the data.
Conducts EHS audits and authors reports on findings. Makes recommendations to address audit findings.
EHS technicians collect health, safety and environmental samples and enter them into Materion Safety. They also perform EHS inspections and provide advice to hourly employees and their supervisors.

Qualifications
Education
Required: High School degree
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in EHS or Associated Degree in EHS or related field, air and water sampling course work, familiarity with MS Office.
Experience
Required with Associates degree: > 3 years or relevant experience
Required with High School diploma: > 6 years or relevant experience
Required with Bachelor’s degree diploma: 0-1 years or relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Independently follows written instructions from EHS professionals, local and corporate EHS policies and procedures
Supports EHS professional staff with data collection
Works with complicated environmental and industrial hygiene equipment
Verifies complex data, correlation and preparation of EHS reports
Performs calculations, data entry, data analysis, field monitoring and report writing under at the direction of an EHS professional
Maintains and calibrates environmental and industrial hygiene equipment
Keeps abreast of the latest EHS data collection equipment and methods
May provide guidance, support and train less experienced technicians
Prepare and conduct EHS training
Conducts workplace EHS observation to assess regulatory compliance, promotes hazard recognition and mitigation
Supports emergency response efforts
The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
