The Division EHS Manager is the primary resource to lead, manage and coordinate all aspects of Division goals and objectives in Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS). As management’s representative for Safety, manages department resources and coordinates the implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Act(s) between business units and locations. Interacts routinely with all division functional areas, as well as with customers, field sales, regulatory agencies, group/corporate management, and suppliers. Guides all Parker safety and environmental initiatives within the Division.

The Division EHS Manager is responsible for initiating, promoting, implementing, and maintaining health and safety initiatives within the organization. Responsibilities also include:

· Developing and implementing programs and procedures to meet division objectives and targets in EHS. Key focus points include:

  • Accident prevention.

  • EHS regulatory compliance.

  • Energy management and use reduction.

  • Waste minimization.

  • Management systems (as required).

  • Return to Work Program

  • Wellness Program

  • Ergonomic Program

    · Support and manage corrective actions from Corporate EHS audits.

    · On site contact for Corporate EHS Department and under Corporate direction manage EPA actions such as, but not limited to, reporting, NOV’s, cleanups and complaints.

    · On site contact for Corporate EHS Department and under their direction manage Occupational Health and Safety actions such as, but not limited to, inspections, letters of noncompliance, informal conferences.

    · Direct all applicable EHS reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner.

    · Maintain necessary EHS records.

    · Ensure compliance with Corporate EHS policy and directives.

    · Support customer EHS requirements as required.

    · Develop, measure, and track internal EHS metrics, plans and goals.

    · Ensure the training of new facility EHS Coordinators.

    · Attend biannual EHS Conference or annual country council meetings.

    · Direct the division’s waste management program.

    · Monitor and measure effectiveness of all safety programs and documentation required as part of compliance with Canadian Occupational Health and Safety and Provincial regulating agencies.

    · Work closely with the joint health and safety committees and all levels of management to ensure safety and compliance is observed at all levels.

    · Mentor EHS personnel in the areas of federal, provincial, and local safety rules and laws to ensure the organization complies with all regulations

    · Review and verify incident investigation reports.

    · Oversee the development of annual health and safety plans based on a full review of health and safety-related needs (assessment of hazards, analysis of database, audits, changing legislation and best practices).

    · Provide leadership with reports on WCB incidents and injuries, lost time injuries, health-related absenteeism and other occupational health and safety information.

    · Coordinate with Human Resources on return-to-work program, accommodation plans and claims management, working closely with the employee, his/her supervisors, and the insurance company to ensure the employee's safety and health.

    · Oversee the development and delivery of safety orientation and training

    Qualifications

    · BS Degree in a technical field, preferably EHS

    · Certification by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (CRSP) a definite asset.

    Experience & Skills

    · 10+ years of applicable experience.

    · Experience in a manufacturing environment.

    · Experience in ergonomics and behavior-based safety an asset.

    · Proven experience developing and leading safety and health programs, including procedures, training, audits, and inspections.

    · Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Knowledge of Benchmark Digital (Gensuite), Velocity EHS (Humantech) an asset.

    · Creative ability in ensuring safety of employees, the environment while meeting the needs of production.

    · Strong presentation skills.

    · Must be able to travel and work out of the office.

    · Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with employees, other departments, supervisors, and external stakeholders through effective communication skills

    · Experience with accident investigation, workplace inspection, job hazard analysis and ergonomic assessments.

    · Understanding of current legislation, Codes of Practice, federal and environmental management, and other safe work practice requirements and recommendations

    · Ability to identify developmental needs of employees and to provide coaching, mentoring, and other help

    · Confident communication, conflict management, and problem-solving skills

    · Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines

    · Environmental monitoring and coordination of activities (obtain applicable disposal permits; testing results, submissions, etc.; coordinates with contractors as needed).
