Full Job Description
The Irrigation Service Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of irrigation systems for commercial and residential properties within the Sussex County area. They will also monitor and maintain irrigation systems on an ongoing basis which could include checking for signs of wear or damage, making adjustments as needed and other related tasks.
Role and Responsibilities
- inspect irrigation systems and repair leaks or other damages as needed
- repair sprinkler systems, drip lines, spray heads, pressure regulators, faucets and other components of an irrigation system
- calculate water requirements for properties based on weather conditions, plant material, and soil type
- maintain drip irrigation systems and specialized equipment such as emitters and timers
- design new irrigation systems or modify existing ones for specific applications such as greenhouses, nurseries, and turf grass
- perform routine tasks such as cleaning, repairing, and replacing pumps, filters, valves, hoses, and nozzles on irrigation systems
- Develop a clear understanding of the philosophies by which the company operates, the short-and long-term goals of the irrigation department
- Develop a clear understanding of the hourly and cost budgets for each of your jobs. Monitor by reviewing job hours, reports and job costs regularly and taking action as needed.
- Maintain assigned vehicle and/or equipment in good working order
- Other related duties as assigned
