We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Responsibilities Work closely with Project Managers and other team members to develop detailed designs in Electrical Facilities, Power Distribution Systems, Fire Alarm Systems, Communization and Security Systems, Control and Instrumentation Systems, including field work, schematic and wiring design, space planning, design development, and construction documentation. Take a self-sufficient and hands-on approach to mature designs from concept through successfully-delivered hardware. Interface with multiple levels of government and commercial customer organizations during the typical project lifecycle. Performs electrical engineering design, including development of single line diagrams, panel schedules, schematics, connection diagrams, load lists, etc. Develops material requisitions and specifications for non-standard equipment and BOM for off-the shelf-equipment. Develops design approaches, conducts design and documentation checking as required. Ability to develop an installation and checkout plan for an electrical or controls installation. Ability to develop plans and work instructions and lead an in-house team in installation and checkout. Ability to generate specifications and oversee a subcontractor in installation and checkout. Understanding of the local and national electric codes including NFPA 70 (National Electric Code) and/or NFPA 79 (Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery) is desired. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of electrical system design requirements applicable to the Hazardous Areas encountered in cryogenic propellant storage and test facilities. Designs and develops electronic integrated circuits, controls, data and instrumentation hardware, subsystems, and systems for specialty process systems, Experience in application of limit switches, pressure and flow transducers and switches, accelerometers, proximity detectors, flame and combustible gas detectors, photocells, thermocouples, etc. is required. Support business development activities. Responsibilities include development and documentation of proposed technical solutions, cost estimation, and schedule development. In addition to technical proficiency, excellent oral and written technical communications skills are required. Use established SLI Systems Engineering processes in support of project management and technical execution. Identify opportunities to refine, tailor and improve these process, and implement such changes once affirmed. Maintain and increase your knowledge and skills in work-related subject areas though experience gained on-the-job as well as in formal training settings. Qualifications US Citizenship. The successful applicant will possess a BS or higher degree (granted by an ABET-accredited university) in Electrical Engineering or a sufficiently-relevant Engineering discipline and have five (5) or more years of verifyable, related work experience.
