Job Overview
In this position as a Senior R&D/Product Development Engineer, the candidate will be responsible for all aspects of design, development and defining testing of new copper cable assemblies. This will include engineering analysis of designs, coordination of sample builds, oversight of verification/qualification testing, if required. This position will require direct communication with external customers and suppliers, as well as interactions with internal business development, corporate technology, manufacturing, quality and testing functions. Some domestic and/or international travel might be required.
This position will be located at our facility in Middletown, PA and is eligible for hybrid work mode (50/50).
Senior R&D/Product Development Engineer responsibilities may also include:
Collaborate across different time zones with global product engineering teams, manufacturing resources, and quality resources to deliver cable assembly solutions meeting technical, quality, cost, and delivery goals.
Own cable assembly product engineering tasks from conception phase to end of life phase.
Interface with planning, sourcing, manufacturing, and quality engineers to ensure timely introduction of new and sustaining cable assembly products to the production floor.
Work with project management (PjM) to assure product engineering commitments are met for new product development projects.
Support the engineering change process (-115/ECR/ECN) by interacting with various functional teams to ensure engineering change is clearly understood and properly executed.
Support manufacturing and quality on processing issues related to product design/requirements.
Provide product engineering support during product quote phase which includes verifying manufacturability to the customer specifications, generating both quote drawings and quote bill of materials and identifying opportunities to design in TE Connectivity’s value-added products.
Provide engineering support in identifying VAVE/TEBIT cost savings opportunities for new and sustaining products.
Support in responding to customer issues/complaints.
Draft production drawings using 2D/3D CAD software.
Participate in corporate initiatives like continuous improvement ideas, product compliance and EBOMs.
What your background should look like:
Must be US citizen certified to work with ITAR sensitive products.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Other degrees can be considered if work experience is related with areas described below.
5+ years of relevant experience in the US Aerospace and Defense industry.
Must be accountable and own it.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Experience developing RF cable assemblies preferred.
Experience with RF and copper cable assemblies electrical testing preferred.
Demonstrated hands-on manufacturing skills for RF and copper cable assemblies a plus.
Knowledge/experience with fiber optics connectivity and/or its use is a plus.
Experience using CAD software like AutoCAD, preferred or Creo, a plus.
Experience using industry workmanship standards like IPC-620.
Experience using industry soldering standards like J-STD-001.
Experience using SAP for checking routings, MBOMs, orders etc.
Experience using Microsoft office.

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $113,800 - $170,600 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
