As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing essential patient care support to ensure efficient operation of our medical facility. You will be responsible for preparing patients for examinations, assisting physicians during procedures, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. Your role includes documenting medical information, relaying physician instructions to patients, and performing various clerical tasks to support patient care activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform vital sign documentation.

  • Prepare patients and rooms for exams and procedures.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment.

  • Provide essential patient care assistance, such as greeting patients, taking vital signs, and preparing examination rooms.

  • Assist physicians with procedures by documenting medical history and case notes.

  • Relay instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person.

  • Collect patient data in person and by phone, and document patient concerns.

  • Record messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for physician review.

  • Take and route messages accurately, handle order and referral entry, set up cases in the EMR system, and update demographics.

  • Accurately document medical information in patient records.

  • Track and route test results to physicians or nurse practitioners for review.

  • Communicate test results with patients as deemed appropriate by the physician or nurse practitioner.

  • Facilitate patient care activities, including scheduling ancillary tests, reinforcing patient education, and performing triage as directed.

  • Maintain adequate inventory of medical, office, and pharmaceutical supplies.

  • Utilize basic computer skills to proficiently use the electronic health record for daily documentation and communication involved in patient care.

  • Process orders appropriately and accurately.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with documenting vital signs.

  • Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.

  • Medical Assisting certification or experience.

  • Experience with blood pressure measurement and phlebotomy.

  • Familiarity with Eclinical Works (ECW) software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility to work until 6 PM if needed. This role is within a busy urgent care setting, handling 50-100 patients a day. The environment is fast-paced and requires the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. There is room for growth within the company and opportunities for overtime within different specialties.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
