Responsibilities The General Surgeon is accountable to the Chief Medical Officer, clinically (or their designee), for providing surgical coverage consistent with the standards of care of Garnet Health Medical Center. The General Surgeon is primarily focused in the diagnosis and treatment of, the clinical management of, the favorable impact on quality of care of, and is responsible to oversee the total care of, the General Surgery patient. The Surgeon will use a variety of skills to educate, consult and manage the surgical patient population and assist the patient/family, the patient care team and other physicians and providers. The General Surgeon will work collaboratively with the health care team including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, anesthesiologists, other physicians involved in the surgical patient care, nurses, case management, physical and occupational therapy and with departments affecting the care of the surgical patient. The Surgeon will act as a clinical educator working with staff on surgical competencies, new procedures and advanced practice skills. The Surgeon will work with the care team to implement necessary medical aspects of care including discharges and pain management. Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range for the role is $ 365,711 - $425,003 annually. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity) Qualifications Minimum Education: M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy. Minimum Experience: 5 years of surgical experience, preferred Required Certification/Registration: NY State Medical License Board Certification: Surgery Board Certification/Board Eligibility Trauma/Surgical Critical Care preferred Updated ACLS certification is required. Updated BLS certification is optional but recommended ATLS certification preferred PALS certification preferred Physical Requirements: Prolonged standing, walks, sits intermittently throughout the day.
