The University of Miami Health System, "UHealth", Department of Pediatrics- Perinatal Care has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Therapist, licensed to work in Miami.

The Therapist, licensed coordinates and provides individualized case management, group therapy, and bio-psychosocial assessment services, including group and family counseling, for clients within the facility. The incumbent demonstrates expertise in the development of client resources, vocational counseling, discharge and continuing care planning, and client placement.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Relates to and interacts well with patients to meet their age-specific physical and psychosocial needs.

  • Interviews and evaluates patients to determine need and develops treatment plans accordingly.

  • Works in conjunction with multidisciplinary service teams to ensure implementation of coordinated psychosocial services.

  • Prepares progress notes, reports, and correspondence for assigned patients, and maintains case records.

  • Conducts ongoing individual, groups, and family counseling sessions with patients.

  • Completes psychosocial evaluations, diagnoses psychological disorders, prepares comprehensive clinical summaries, and makes recommendations for treatment.

  • Interprets psychological or psychiatric case information based on patient interviews and medical or psychiatric sources.

  • Completes and maintains all required client-related and programmatic documentation.

  • Performs routine data collection tasks for studies.

  • Serves as program liaison to collaborating service providers and treatment centers.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Department Specific Functions:

This direct service position is responsible for providing psychosocial counseling services to clients (pregnant and postpartum women) participating in the Florida Healthy Start Program.

  • Provide psychosocial counseling services to Healthy Start clients, including: completing psychosocial assessments and providing brief counseling and/or intensive counseling for postpartum depression in home settings; providing additional wraparound services and referral services as needed.

  • Work in conjunction with supervisor and multidisciplinary service team to ensure implementation of coordinated psychosocial and mental health services as related to program participant needs.

  • Complete all required client-related and programmatic written and electronic documentation in compliance with programmatic requirements, agency reporting, and the Healthy Start Standards and Guidelines.

  • Assist as needed in quality assurance of service delivery documentation for the purposed of completing agency reports and compliance with program performance measures.

  • Attend all programmatically required trainings and meetings and provide in-service educational presentations/trainings to program staff.

  • Other duties as assigned.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in relevant field

  • Valid State of Florida Licensure in relevant field

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

  • Commitment to the University’s core values.

  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
